Black Brazil Art – an art office in Brazil that works with the dissemination, promotion and representation of the arts with an emphasis on gender and race, invites you to get to know and appreciate the systemic work we have been doing for over 10 years.
The COVID-19 pandemic has had devastating effects on the cultural and creative industries. Around the world, the confinement measures weighed on the income of artists and cultural professionals. The precariousness of our work mainly exposed the economic shocks caused by the crisis, which further accentuated the volatility and inequalities that already exist in this sector. The number of artists and cultural professionals who have lost their jobs and income has reached its peak and, across the world, the sector struggles to survive. And women had the biggest losses.
Today we take the opportunity to invite you to our second BIENALBLACK in a fully online format, which continues to reaffirm the need for an open and linear discussion about gender and race in the arts. The exhibition brings together selected works from the public call for the event, guest artists from Brazil and abroad, and works and projects from two international residencies produced throughout 2021, RAVC (Brazil\Uruguay) and Incorporare (Brazil\Italy).
