Friday the 18th of September, the Iranian Women’s Movement Museum Initiative’s exhibition From Evin With Love was opened at the Women’s Museum in Norway, in Kongsvinger.

The exhibition presents a collection of 30 different handcrafted objects made by female political prisoners in the Evin prison in Iran. It also contains a presentation of each of the prisoners, their sentence and situation. The handcrafted objects were, when finished, sent by the prisoners to their families and friends, as a means of maintaining a relationship with them and the world outside the prison.

The exhibition is curated by Mansoureh Shojaee and given the form and design by her and her team from the Iranian Women’s Movement Museum Initiative. It has earlier been showed in The Humanity House in Den Haag, The Netherlands, and in Heilig Geist Spital, Nurnberg, Germany, organised by the Women’s museum in Fürth.

At the opening ceremony the 18th September, there were speeches by the supplicant mayor in Kongsvinger, Eli Wathne, and by women’s activist Iran Morvati.

Due to corona restrictions there were a limited number of especially invited people present. However, the exhibition will be shown at the Women’s Museum in Norway until the 14th of March 2021, and, hopefully, there will then be an opportunity to organise a big finissage.

From Evin With Love is open to the public at the Women’s Museum in Kongsvinger every Saturday and Sunday until December. (The opening hours from December and onward will be announced later.)
