Oktober 2013 Second European Conference, Berlin, Germany

Oct 30, 2013

The Second European Conference took place in Berlin on 15th and 16th October 2013. Participating members were the women’s museums of Bonn, Berlin, Wiesbaden, Fürth in Germany, the German/French Cooperative EFA, Meran in Italy, and Norway.

Each representative gave an account of their current projects and developments in their museum as well as explaining how they benefit from the IAWM network. On the agenda were discussions about future tasks of IAWM: membership campaign, newsletter, cooperation with other institutions such as ICOM, and the creation of a guideline on how to create and develop a new museum.

An important point was also the preparation of the next congress in China in 2014: organisation, fundraising, accessibility and session themes. Because of several reasons, this congress had to be cancelled at a later date.

Finally, the EU-project She Culture was presented, in which 4 museums and 3 other institutions were taking part. The outcomes of this project are presented on the website http://www.she-culture.com/en/.
