September 10 to December 3, 2023
Opening: September 10, 2023, 12 p.m.

On September 10, 2023, frauen museum wiesbaden opens the doors to post/pre Lesbian Jazz, the first solo museum exhibition by Anouk Lamm Anouk. Encompassing three exhibition levels, this will be the largest show of works by the Austrian painter and conceptual artist thus far. In a subtle yet expressive way, the works prompt an examination of social issues of sexuality, gender, and identity.

Anouk Lamm Anouk. Over the last few years, this name has been associated with an abundance of works – paintings, drawings, sculptures, and lyrical texts, which together form an extensive oeuvre. Now, with an opening on September 10, 2023, frauen museum wiesbaden is presenting the biggest overview and the first solo museum exhibition of works by Anouk Lamm Anouk thus far – which represents the first non-binary position since the institution opened in 1984. On three floors, the exhibition invites visitors to immerse themselves in the world of Anouk Lamm Anouk – a world that involves consciously turning away from a patriarchal social view in favor of a different, harmonious coexistence of humans, animals, and nature.

Questions about a potentially different society, about the meaning of identity, and about the visibility of queer sexuality characterize the art of Anouk Lamm Anouk. The artistic approach to these issues is subtle but by no means quiet. With a reduced mode of representation, encompassing lines that are in part merely suggested and delicate coloring, Anouk Lamm Anouk manages to say as much as possible with as little as possible. Yet you can immediately recognize or even sense a very distinctive style, as a feeling of calm and harmony arises when you view the works.
