A vision becomes reality at the women’s museum Hittisau: last Friday was day 0, kick-off and start of construction of the “Room for birth and senses”.

A clay body in the clay hall
The clay construction takes shape in the new ERDEN working space in Schlins, planned by Martin Rauch. It is the very first project in the impressive building made of clay by Lehm Ton Erde Baukunst GmbH. The fact that the visionary “space for birth and senses” can be created in a visionary large-scale project fills us with pride and joy.
The prefabricated clay body will be transported to Hittisau in a few weeks. The designers of the “Space for Birth and the Senses” are all great personalities: the globally active and multiple award-winning architect Anna Heringer, the renowned artist, architect and clay building pioneer Martin Rauch, the young architect and midwife in training Anka Dür and the designer Sabrina Summer, who has been working in London for many years. Many supporting companies are involved in the project. More details will follow soon.
The anniversary exhibition is flourishing
We would like to silently open the anniversary exhibition “BIRTH CULTURES About giving birth and being born” curated by a team of curators (Anka Dür, Stefania Pitscheider Soraperra, Brigitta Soraperra) on June 28, 2020. Without an opening ceremony, it can’t be any different in these times. We will hold a celebration as soon as this is possible again without endangering you and our staff.
The exhibition is part of the Creative Europe project “Birth Cultures” and will subsequently be shown at the Gender Museum in Kharkiv in the Ukraine, at the Centre de Culturea de Dones Francesca Bonnemaison in Barcelona and at the Women’s Museum Meran.

Ein Lehmkörper in der Lehmhalle
Der Lehmkörper nimmt Form an in der neuen, von Martin Rauch geplanten ERDEN Werkhalle in Schlins. Es ist das allererste Projekt im beeindruckenden Gebäude aus Sampflehmelementen der Lehm Ton Erde Baukunst GmbH. Dass der visionäre “Raum für Geburt und Sinne” in einem visionären Großprojekt entstehen kann, erfüllt uns mit Stolz und Freude.
Der vorgefertigte Lehmkörper wird in wenigen Wochen nach Hittisau transportiert. Die Gestalter*innen des “Raumes für Geburt und Sinne” sind allesamt große Persönlichkeiten: die weltweit tätige und vielfach ausgezeichnete Architektin Anna Heringer, der renommierte Künstler, Architekt und Lehmbaupionier Martin Rauch, die junge Architektin und Hebamme in Ausbildung Anka Dür und die lange in London tätige Designerin Sabrina Summer. Viele unterstützende Firmen sind am Projekt beteiligt. Genaueres folgt in Bälde.
Die Jubiläumsausstellung gedeiht
Die von einem Kuratorinnenteam (Anka Dür, Stefania Pitscheider Soraperra, Brigitta Soraperra) kuratierten Jubiläumsausstellung “GEBURTSKULTUR vom gebären und geboren werden” möchten wir am 28. Juni 2020 still eröffnen. Ohne Eröffnungsfeier, das kann in diesen Zeiten nicht anders sein. Ein Fest werden wir nachholen, sobald dies wieder möglich ist ohne Sie und unsere Mitarbeiterinnen zu gefährden.
Die Ausstellung ist Teil des Creative-Europe-Projektes “Birth Cultures” und wird im Anschluss im Gender Museum in Charkiw in der Ukraine, im Centre de Culturea de Dones Francesca Bonnemaison in Barcelona und im Frauenmuseum Meran zu sehen sein.
